The Woman, Other

When you’re the woman, other

You’ll be haunted by her face

He says if he meets another

She will not be safe,

You believe him

He’s so convincing

You’re barely breathing

He’s a little older

And a lot slyer

You don’t know it yet

He still loves her

He’ll tell you later

After the blunder

He meets your mother

In the courtyard

They speak in German

With each other

It feels important

It feels special

Later you’ll kiss

With the devil

Under a sign

Her hands made him

Nestled above his bed

He’ll look at you

And, he’ll tilt your head

Bent away from her watching eye

Later you will cry, cry, cry,

Soon again, you’ll meet another

A friend you love, smother

Her with kisses above her temples

She lived it also

The abridged version

When you find out

You write a stencil of this poem

So that maybe someone

Who might find themselves in this position

The twisted fate as the other

Woman, knows it’s a sad tale

A long one which pales

In comparison to the first

and has, unfortunately

No moral to cover
